Problem interview is a way to find out if there are people wanted to use a startup’s product, service. It is not about pitching the product or service. It is about the existence of the problem that could be solved with the product or service, and the level of importance of solving this problem.
Problem interview also helps to find out competitors or how this problem is solved now, while the product or service isn’t available.
Also, problem interview explores the demographics of customers, and answer the question “Who has the problem or pain?” men/women, adults, teenagers, rich people or middle class, etc.
